A Garden, a Grandmother, and a Lot of Peonies
Bloom & Petal started the way most good things do — with someone who couldn't stop growing things.
Meet Sarah
I grew up spending summers at my grandmother's house in Ashland, pulling weeds and learning which flowers liked shade and which ones needed sun all day. She had this enormous peony bush by the front porch — every June it would explode into these huge pink blooms, and she'd cut them and put them in mason jars all over the house.
That stuck with me. I studied floral design in Portland, worked at two shops downtown, and in 2016 I finally opened my own place on Garden Lane. I named it Bloom & Petal because that's what flowers do — they bloom, one petal at a time, when conditions are right.
Eight years later, I still get the same little thrill every time a customer walks in and their face lights up at the cooler. Mia joined the team in 2020, and together we handle everything from Tuesday afternoon pick-me-ups to 200-person weddings.
How We Work
Fresh Every Morning
We buy from three local farms and the Portland flower market. Nothing sits in our cooler more than two days.
Designed by Hand
No pre-made arrangements sitting in a warehouse. Sarah or Mia builds every order the morning it goes out.
Rooted in Bloomfield
We donate leftover stems to the senior center every Friday and sponsor two Little League teams each spring.
Where Our Flowers Come From
Willow Creek Farm — 20 minutes south of town. Peonies, dahlias, ranunculus, and most of our spring/summer stems.
Mesa Rosa — Family-run rose grower in the valley. Supplies our Ecuadorian and garden rose varieties year-round.
Portland Flower Market — For tropical stems, specialty greens, and anything exotic we can't grow locally.
Come See the Shop
We're on Garden Lane, right across from the Bloomfield Library. Stop in and say hi — the cooler's always worth a peek.
